"I am a professional engineer with over 10 years experience in
satellite communications, both in commercial and governmental
environments. With a technical approach, but never forgetting the
end-users and their goals.
Explaining others technically challenging concepts in an understandable way is my passion!"
Providing 2nd and 3rd tier support to the daily operations is still an important part of my duties. The number of projects has grown significantly over the last couple of years and resources are limited. This creates a challenging environment in which I can build towards the future.
Returning to the Ministry of Defence as a civilian felt strange at first, but I really like the nature of the work now. Providing knowledge and support to the Satellite Support Center's planning cell and operations room is a daily returning task. Besides all that, I'm heavily involved in supporting multiple projects.
For this commercial company I was Team Lead for a Technical Operations Center at a teleport (satellite ground station) facility. The team provided primarily 2nd tier support on both maritime and land based satellite systems for large shipping companies, governments and large industries. As Team Lead, I also prepared lots of network changes and made sure the TOC was staffed 24/7/365.

Living together in Ede, The Netherlands, with my fiancée Lindi. We're getting married in May 2020. We also have a cat, named Mila.
In my spare time, I like playing the euphonium in my marching band, ride my motorcycle or mountain bike.
When forced indoors, I follow a number of television shows, do some flight simulation or automate my home. I spend a large amount of my free time exploring new (web development) skills.
